Merge PDF

Rendering covers

You can see a thumbnail of each cover of the documents you are managing, as long as you are working with no more than 20 files at a time. Unfortunately, if you are working with a document over 200MB, the thumbnail view option will not be available. If you have selected more than 20 files, the rendering function will be deactivated, and if you want to see thumbnails of the files you are processing, you have to click on the eye icon. If you choose this option, the next time you visit us, you will see all of the thumbnails individually. But if you only want to see thumbnails for a few certain files, you have to hover the mouse over the files you want to see for 2 seconds.

Password-protected files

If you process a password-protected file, we will ask you to help us open it. Once it has been opened and processed, we commit to not storing this password on our servers.

Rotating files

Now, you can rotate the files that you process with ilovepdf. If you want, you can rotate documents manually by hovering the mouse over a file and clicking the () icon. But if you want to rotate more than 10 files at once, you can do so automatically with a pop-up window that will appear. Before you can do this, you will have to render all the pages so that you can rotate them in the same direction.

Rotating an image in a pdf document only affects the image. Afterwards, you will be able to choose the page orientation (vertical or horizontal) with the newly rotated image.

Ordering files

Files can be arranged in different ways: you can use the mouse to put them in whatever order you like; you can also arrange them alphabetically by clicking the () icon; and you also have the option of arranging them in inverse alphabetical order clicking the () icon.

iLovePDF’s classic view

If you miss the old version of ilovepdf, you have the option of arranging the files with the classic arrow buttons, just like before. If you use this option, we will save this setting for the next time you visit us. And remember that you can always choose the new way of arranging documents.

Compressing files

After processing your files, ilovepdf will tell you how much file space they took up before being compressed, and by what percentage they have been reduced in size. In the case of pdf files that are already optimized, ilovepdf will not be able to compress them any more.

Uploading and processing

The uploading and processing time for files will depend on your Internet connection and on the size of the files you have selected. If the browser closes while your files are being processed, you can verify their processing status in the “My Account” menu, in the “Last files processed” section.

Downloading

The final file will be deleted from ilovepdf’s servers after a specified period of time, depending on your user type. You also have the option of saving the processed file straight to your Google Drive or Dropbox account. The download link has a limited number of downloads; this feature also depends on your user type. Additionally, remember that you can cancel the validity of the download link whenever you want.

Working from the cloud

The files that you want to process don’t even have to be on the device from which you are working. If you have a Google Drive or Dropbox Account,you can download them straight onto ilovepdf’s page. Once your files have been processed, you can save the processed file straight to the cloud. To process these archives, we will need you to enter your password the first time you use this feature. Either way, we will never save your password. This is a perfect method for using ilovepdf from a mobile device or tablet.

Files from your computer

To select files from your computer, click on each one individually. If you want to select more than one file all at the same time,hold down the “Ctrl” key and click on the files you want. If the files are in consecutive order, you can select them all at once by clicking on the first file in the list,holding on to the “Shift” key, and clicking on the last file that you want to select.Another option for selecting files is clicking on them and dragging them straight to ilovepdf’s work page.

Minimum requirements

In order for ilovepdf’s services to function correctly, we recommend working with computers that have one of the following browsers installed: Chrome, Firefox, Explorer +10 and Safari. If you are working on a computer with Explorer version 8 or 9, the rendering option for document pages will be disabled. Ilovepdf needs to have Javascript enabled.
